For 2024, NewCity is going to read through the Bible using Robert Murray M’Cheyne’s plan. You can read some background on the plan here.

The plan combines an emphasis on reading from the Old and New Testaments everyday (like the original CBR plan), and the opportunity to read through the entire Bible in a year (like the Read Scripture plan).

For your actual approach to reading, you can download a PDF of the plan the link below, or you can bookmark this link, which refreshes everyday to the reading for that day. Early in the New Year, we'll release a podcast episode talking about the plan in more detail, which you can also access at the link below.

September Update

In September, we'll finish 1 Samuel, Romans, 1-2 Corinthians, most of Galatians, and Lamentations, as well as make our way through the Psalms a good bit. We're starting Ezekiel as well, but to our regret, we have not published a podcast episode on that book, or the rest of the Minor Prophets either, but we'll need to remedy that soon!

August Update

In August, we'll finish Judges and Jeremiah, as well as a second pass through Mark and Acts. We'll also start two new books, which you can listen to an overview episode for here:

July Update

Now that we're into July, our Old Testament books are a trio of J's:
We also have two additional podcasts on Jeremiah, the first is with Theologian in Residence Michael Allen about Jeremiah's call, and the second is a rundown of some additional resources for making sense of Jeremiah's writings:

June Update

One of our earliest podcasts was on reading Deuteronomy, which is one of the the main Old Testament book for the month of June. You can listen to that here:
Likewise, the main New Testament book this month is Revelation, which was also one of the earliest episodes we recorded on the All of Life podcast (back then it was The Equip):
We've also recorded a few others on it:

May Update

We recently released an episode on reading Numbers, which is one of the the main Old Testament book for the month of May. You can listen to that here:
As we continue to read through the Psalms, we are releasing a series on Psalms and Secure Attachment, which you can listen to here:
We have also several episodes on Song of Songs, as well as one on Isaiah:
We also have several older episodes on the epistles that we are reading in May:

April Update

On the last day of March, we started Leviticus. We recorded a fresh podcast with Mike Allen and Nate Claiborne:
We also recorded a new episode on reading the Psalms, but in light of some of the research that Benjamin Kandt is doing. You can listen to that here:
As far as other books that start in April, here are the episodes we have available:

March Update

Toward the end of last month, we started Exodus in our Bible reading plan. Having preached through Exodus over the last two falls, we have several helpful episodes you can check out:
For the other books that we've recently finished, you can catch up on episodes introducing:
Looking ahead, we will soon start these two books:

February Update

In February, we are continuing on in Genesis, but in late January we started Mark and Romans. For Mark, we have previously recorded these episodes:
For Romans, we have quite a bit of content because of two Spring sermon series working through the book. For overviews:
For more in-depth discussion:
For Esther, and Job (soon), here are the Bible introductions we've recorded:

January Update

In January, we are primarily reading through Genesis, Matthew, Ezra/Nehemiah, and Acts. On the All of Life podcast, we have recorded introductions to each of these book:
In addition, we have recorded several other discussions about specific chapters we'll be reading together:
